We just held our second clothing and fundraising collection in conjunction with
Bag2School ….on Monday 14th, Tuesday 15th, Wednesday 16th & Thursday 17th October 2013.
Thank you very much for your huge support which helped us raise €988.50 for the school and 10% for LauraLynn.
We will run another collection in May.
Don’t Want It … Don’t Waste It !
By getting involved in our Bag2School collection you have an opportunity to sort through your cupboards and
wardrobes and donate any unwanted textiles.
What you can you donate…
In addition to raising funds for our school (60c per Kilo), the LauraLynn House will also receive an additional 10% of the total we raise, from Bag2School. The Lauralynn House is the only Children’s Hospice in Ireland. Laura Lynn has been associated with Bag2School textile recycling scheme since it’s inception in Ireland just over two years ago. Given LauraLynn receive no government funding and they rely on fundraising schemes and initiatives such as this and give it their full support.
Bag2School Ireland (www.bag2school.ie) operate as a small family business based in Donegal. They were established just three years ago and affiliated themselves with a franchise of reputable international organisation Bag2School UK, one of the reasons was to have an established buyer in the textile business, across Eastern Europe Asia and Africa, to whom they could provide affordable clothing. Bag2School do not operate any bins or door-to-door collections, only organised bag collections via Schools, Clubs, and Charities etc. All clothes are paid for by Bag2School.
Bag2School Ireland follows the same business model as their parent Bag2School UK company which was established in 2001. This international organisation operates across the USA, Canada and has additional European operations in Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
Peace of Mind:
We are very conscious that in light of media reports of bogus collection schemes and alleged fraudulent activity around the textile recycling businesses that some may have some concerns about the process and where your unwanted clothing ends up.
Prior to our undertaking of this fundraising initiative the Oatlands Parents Council conducted some background
research with other schools in our locality and spoke with their parent association representatives.
From our fundraising experience we have found Bag2School Ireland to be extremely professional and helpful in all
their dealings with us, from our early enquiries, collection and weighing of the bags, the administrative
documentation to receipt of our cheque and certificate.
We will keep you informed of other fundraising activities as they happen during the year.
